Sea to Sea Regional Park
This video introduces the newest jewel in the CRD Parks portfolio. It was important to show the beauty of this area as well as encouraging visitors to respect the setting, other visitors and to encourage personal stewardship to maintain this exquisite ecosystem. We hiked a lot of km’s up and down the mountains to bring a taste of the area and to prepare visitors in advance of their visit.
A Day in the Life
Client: Brad Macleran
The creative for this video project was to capture something a little different for realtor Brad Macleran. The concept and direction was provided by Derek Ford Studios. We crafted a look and feel for this project in a cinema verité style –the result is an engaging telling of Brad’s story and values.
Keep Food Fresh
A unique product with a strong brand direction, Derek Ford Studios was engaged to deliver a series of demonstrative videos for social media and web use. Eight videos adhering to brand standards, showcasing different uses for this natural beeswax wrap and to illustrate the ease of use. One video as and one video as website banner to welcome visitors to the site.
Grapes to Glass
Client: Blended for Gold Hill Winery
It was a real pleasure to capture Gold Hill Winery’s devotion to growing quality grapes and crafting award-winning wines. We incorporated the winery’s “discover gold” theme by focusing on the rich earthy tones and bold sparkling light of the site. It was very important for us to express the beauty of the vineyard, the sophistication of the wines and the dedication of the Gill family in this creative shoot.

Shot in conjunction with another film team in the US, Derek Ford Studios managed this project from start to finish. We delivered the initial scope and creative, copywriting, storyboarding, providing direction to the Canadian and US teams, filming on location, editing, voiceover and motion graphics.
Client: Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts
Shot on location at the Four Seasons Bora Bora, this assignment was featured as a day in the life at this stunning resort. Creative, scripting, filming and editing in this tropical paradise was a dream!
Client: Tourism Victoria
It was great fun to work with Tourism Victoria on three 15 second spots for their Fall Halloween campaign. Three different locations around the capital region, each spot needed to be concise, creative and on message. We collaborated on creative, direction and secured all necessary aspects of production to meet a tight deadline. Campaign was featured on broadcast cable.
New Orleans Night
Client: Billy the Kid
A music video for recording artist Billy the Kid, New Orleans Night is set in a post apocalyptic world where water is scarce and people have taken to the underground, hoping for a future in a world unlike anything we could have imagined.

The series evolves through an overview video followed by interior and feature pieces.

Profile piece on the collaboration between Vancouver Opera and Old Trout Puppet Workshop. Detailing the artistic process, the creative vision and the skill of the artisans. This video generated buzz around this unique interpretation of Hansel & Gretel.

Cape Santa Maria Resort

Situated at the northern tip of Long Island Bahamas, Cape Santa Maria boasts stunning tropical surroundings met by luxurious resort living. I had the opportunity to film and retreat there last winter. This is one of multiple stories captured with the company’s social media objectives in mind.
Vicstoria Pilot: Run For Your Life
Set through the eyes of Christina and David (Christina Patterson and David Radford), Vicstoria takes an affectionate poke at the city’s culture and stereotypes, thoughtfully weaving in the stories of local businesses and brands.
